The house
Casa Emma occupies the first floor of Palazzo Celsi Pollini, a historic residence built by the Sienese architect Baldassarre Peruzzi, in the upper part of the old town.
A wide hallway leads to the finest room in the house, where original frescoes depict Tuscan landscapes. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed, a wardrobe and a desk. The bathroom is generous, with a bathtub, a separate shower and full fittings.
The living and dining room has a round table, a 50" smart TV and a sofa bed. The modern kitchen includes a dishwasher, washing machine, espresso machine, kettle, toaster, fridge and freezer. The second double bedroom is bright, looks onto the church of San Niccolò del Carmine, and has a walk-in wardrobe and a beautiful vaulted ceiling.
The apartment stands in Pian dei Mantellini, a street historically dense with churches and convents — the Mantellini were the Discalced Carmelites, present in Siena since 1262. The whole apartment has been restored in keeping with its original character.
